Thanks! First off, cross country is usually 5k or 3 miles for high schoolers. JV they will have do 2 sometimes, not often though. Average times for high school runners vary from state to state
Let’s do the math: A power walk at 4.0 MPH will take you about 46 minutes. A 12-minute mile (that’s 5.0 MPH) will take you about 37 minutes. A 10-minute mile (at 6.0 MPH) will take you about 31 minutes (here’s a guide to running a 30 minute 5K) All of those are totally awesome times!For most recreational runners, anything under 30 minutes is a good time. However, if you want to become a member of the sub 20 minutes 5K club, the math is simple: A 5K is 5,000 meters or 3.10 miles. In order to run under 20 minutes, you will have to be able to run 1,000 meters in 4 minutes or 6:25 minutes per mile.
